In this Kenmore Elite 41072 review, we’ll decide whether this model is the best front load washer for your laundry needs. Does it deliver the goods, or is it just another generic washing machine that doesn’t stand out in the crowd?

About the Kenmore brand

Kenmore is a well-known brand which manufactures household appliances. Their products are produced by several household names, such as Panasonic, Electrolux and Whirlpool. Nowadays, you can get your hands on Kenmore models from Kmart, Sears or an online retailer such as Amazon.

Overview: Kenmore Elite 41072

The Kenmore Elite washer 41072 is a large, heavy-duty appliance which has been designed to handle hefty laundry loads with ease. As such, it packs quite the punch. This product is best suited in a big house with lots of family members, and it has been created with the purpose of handling all kinds of fabrics. In other words, you will easily be able to wash an entire load in one go if needed. Just don’t expect it to be conservative when it comes to consuming your household’s resources.

The Kenmore Elite 41072 washing machine is perhaps most well known for having a large amount of interior space (5.2 cubic feet, to be precise). From comforters to bedding sheets, it can take whatever you throw at it. Due to its generous proportions, we can’t really talk about any kind of energy efficiency. But if you’re looking for a powerful appliance which can handle all of your laundry without any hassle, this is the perfect product for you. Just bear in mind your energy bill may go up, and the water bill certainly won’t get any lower as a result either. Still, this model managed to earn the Energy Star certification from the EPA. In other words, despite its rather high energy consumption, it’s still a better choice compared with older models on the market.

In terms of sheer dimensions, the Kenmore Elite 41072 is not the most compact unit you might have come across. Trying to fit it into a smaller laundry room is a no-go. However, if you have some space to play around with, you might want to consider purchasing a separate pedestal drawer to increase this appliance’s storage capacities. Alternatively, placing it on top of the drying machine is also worth considering, to make the most of the space you have available.

Washing features

Large families are bound to love this appliance due to the number of cycles there are to choose from. In total, we’ve got:

  • 14 wash cycles
  • 5 soil levels
  • 8 wash options

If you have a toddler in your household, you’ll be glad to know that the Kenmore Elite 41072 washer and dryer comes with a powerful sanitize option. This comes in handy if your child wears cloth diapers, since it allows you to wash them while still keeping the interior clean. At the same time, there’s another family-friendly feature for you to explore; namely, the Kids Wear Cycle. Since it’s a known fact that young skin is sensitive to the residual detergent that gets left on clothing, this cycle provides a secondary rinse which effectively removes it.

If your little ones are playing outside a lot or haven’t yet learned how to eat without making a mess, you can use the SteamTreat function. This will break down set-in stains and get them out of the fabric without damaging it.

  • Normal/Casual Cycle: Intended for cotton, linen, towels, shirts, sheets, jeans and mixed loads.

  • Sanitize Cycle: Intended for heavily soiled items such as diapers and work clothes.
  • Workout Wear Cycle: Intended for synthetic and permanent press items.

  • Small Load Cycle: Intended for normally soiled and small loads.
  • Express Wash Cycle: Intended for small loads and lightly soiled clothing.
  • Cold Clean Cycle: Intended for mixed loads, towels, linen, cotton, shirts, sheets and jeans.

Bonus Features

Users can rest assured that they won’t accidentally put the wrong set of wash temperature, spin speed, and soil level choices together, as if a certain combination is not compatible, a chime will sound and the LED will not light up. Furthermore, this washer will automatically adjust the wash time, taking into consideration factors such as the size of the laundry loads, water heating time, water pressure and more.

Delay Start

You can press the Delay Start button after choosing the cycle and other settings. This will trigger the delay process, and each press will increase the delay by one hour. You can delay the start of the wash by up to 19 hours. Once the delay time you want has been set, it is activated by pressing the Start/Pause button.

Extra Rinse

To ensure your wash has removed detergent or bleach residue from fabrics, you can add another rinse to the cycle your clothing is on.

Accela Wash

If you select the Accela Wash option, a twin injection of spray water and detergent will be used. This doesn’t just reduce the cycle time; wash performance remains at the same quality as it would be in a normal cycle.

Drum Light

This blue LED light will be illuminated when the washer is turned on. When the door is closed and the cycle begins, it will automatically turn off. You can turn on the light during a cycle by pressing and holding the Extra Rinse button for three seconds. This causes the drum light to switch on for four minutes, before turning off. Users should bear in mind that clothes may appear to be yellow in the washer while the drum light is on, but this is merely an effect caused by the reflection of the light.

Stay Fresh

If you can’t remove your laundry from the washer right away, but don’t want the clothes to get wrinkled or start to smell, you can make use of the Stay Fresh feature. By pressing this button, the clothing will be tumbled intermittently and circulate fresh air through the drum. This process can be kept going for up to nineteen hours, and if you want to remove clothes while the washer is in this mode, you can do so at any time by pressing either the Power button or the Start/Pause button.

Pre Wash

If you choose the Pre Wash option, you can set a 15 minute wash, rinse and spin cycle ahead of the main one you have chosen. Users will find this function useful for garments which are heavily soiled.

Control Lock

This option is intended for disabling the controls, in the event that small children are likely to play with the buttons on the washer while you aren’t present to stop them. Once you’ve set up the control lock, you will need to turn it off before the washer controls can be used again. When this function is activated, you will see the letters CL show up on the screen alternately, along with the estimated amount of time remaining on a cycle.

– Vast interior, providing more than enough space for all of your washing needs
– Energy Star certified
– 14 washing cycles
– A National Sanitation Foundation approved sanitize cycle

– It’s not energy efficient
– Won’t easily fit into a smaller laundry room

While this is certainly not the strongest unit in the energy efficiency department, the Kenmore Elite 41072’s massive storage capacity and vast selection of cycles to choose from more than make up for its drawbacks, especially if you have a large family to do laundry for.

Although not suitable for smaller rooms due to its generous proportions, you will love it if you’ve got some space to spare. In the end, your choice should be based on your needs; if you have small children or lots of people under one roof, you’ll need a front load washer which packs a punch, and it’s safe to say that our Kenmore Elite 41072  review proves it does just that.
